Frederick City Board of Aldermen,
Please vote against Mayor Michael O’Connor’s $1.2 million property tax hike.
Many citizens are dealing with financial instability and uncertainty due to COVID-19 lockdowns.
Increasing tax burdens at a time like this is insensitive and totally out of touch with reality.
At minimum, respect the constant yield property tax rate to prevent an increase in the public’s property tax burden.
Or, cut the rate further to help more people rebuild their savings and stimulate the local economy.
Now is the time to be fiscally responsible and prioritize spending on only the most vital services.
Please reduce tax burdens when so many people are dealing with reduced incomes.
