Baltimore County Council,
The Baltimore County Executive should not have the power to suspend the 2nd Amendment.
However, Baltimore County Code creates the potential for this unconstitutional power whenever a local “state of emergency” is declared.
It allows the County Executive to “Control the possession, sale, carrying, and use of firearms, other dangerous weapons, and ammunition” without even requiring a vote.
In other US cities, this has led to abusive gun confiscation and mandatory closing of gun shops.
Peaceful civilians get treated like dead-to-rights criminals.
No peaceful person deserves to be forcibly denied access to a firearm for protection, especially during times of unrest and heightened criminal activity.
Repeal the emergency 2nd Amendment suspension powers now.
Sincerely,
